Thibaut Vauchel Camus
Born in 1978, Thibaut grew up in a family of horse-riding instructors in Guadeloupe. He discovered sailing at the age of 10 during a holiday in Brittany and joined the Pôle France Espoir in Tornado at the Ecole Nationale de Voile, winning back-to-back championships in sport catamarans before joining Yvan Bourgnon's Team Océan. This was his first solo experience on a Mini 6.50 and a Figaro, where he caught the ocean racing bug.
Continuing his love for Sailing
In 2012, together with Victorien Erussard, he created the Défi Voile Solidaires En Peloton, bearing the colours of the ARSEP Foundation's sports brand, for research into multiple sclerosis: Solidaires En Peloton first in an F18 catamaran, then in a Class40 and finally in an Ocean Fifty.
In 2023, Thibaut Vauchel-Camus is launching a new sailing campaign until 2027 with a new Ocean Fifty, the Romaric Neyhousser design, still under the SOLIDAIRES EN PELOTON colours.
With his co-skipper Quentin Vlamynck, he will be lining up at the start of the Transat Jacques Vabre on 29 October. Between Le Havre and Fort-de-France in Martinique, the duo, winners of the major leg of the PRO SAILING TOUR 2023 and the Trophée des Multicoques de la Baie de Saint-Brieuc, are emerging as contenders for victory!
