Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, deck shoes are the same as boat shoes. The name deck shoe is synonymous with boat shoe, that is, non-slip, non-marking leather or canvas shoes with a flat sole in a moccasin or loafer style. If you are a keen sailor but fancy something different, Dubarry makes a range of sailing trainers based on the same boat-safe principles.

Dubarry boat shoes combine several design factors to make them comfortable.

Highest quality leathers are used with adjustable fittings and width options available. The leather will soften and mould to your particular fit with time. Dubarry boat shoes have full-length leather removable footbeds for underfoot comfort and stability and are made from water resistant DryFast-DrySoft™ leathers.

The high quality materials used and wide range of fittings available, means your Dubarry Deck Shoes should be comfortable as soon as you buy them. The leather, however, will further soften and mould to your particular fit with time. You may want to wear yours around the house before you go out to allow them to start to soften to your foot shape.

Boat shoes are traditionally and usually worn without socks, but they lend themselves just as well to wearing socks, which gives you two separate looks to suit your activities.

Wearing socks will help absorb moisture if you are planning on casual or physical activity in hot weather when you may sweat. If you prefer the no sock look then there are plenty of ‘no show’ socks on the market that will sit below the shoe line.

Deck shoes were historically designed and refined for sailing. The siping pattern on the sole incorporates small slits cut across larger tread marks like a tyre, so the more sips, the better the grip. Dubarry deck shoes incorporate award winning and patented Non-Slip Non-Marking™ soles to prevent our users from aquaplaning.

Deck shoes are a versatile addition to your wardrobe through the year. They vary in design and can be a traditional loafer or moccasin shape but with a flat sole. They aren’t restricted by colour or fit so are a fashionable as well as practical choice. The rubber sole allows for light, flexible movement, ideal for long days on your feet. Dubarry offers a variety of men’s and women’s styles in several colours and designs including slip-ons and lace-ups, extra lightweight soles, sportier silhouettes and bold, seasonal colours. So, you can have casual and elegant styling that is practical and reliable.

A versatile, comfortable and practical range, with the added Dubarry twist of a bold and varied range of colours. Each shoe features subtle stylistic details which compliment their soft water-resistant leather finish and soles are so comfy you could be in your slippers. Whether you call them your fall back, your go to or your trusted companion, we're sure they'll be going everywhere with you.
