Frequently Asked Questions

Do not dry clean your down-filled jacket. The chemicals involved in the dry cleaning process can strip the natural, protective oils from down and damage the plumules through heat. This will in turn damage the insulation of the jacket.

Down-filled jackets are machine washable. There are extra steps you can take to get the very best wash and care for your jacket. Fasten any pockets and zips then turn your jacket inside out to protect the zips. You can use standard non-biological soap but there are special care products for down on the market. Wash your jacket on its own ideally, on a long gentle cycle to ensure the down is well cleaned, then give it an extra rinse to remove any leftover detergent.  Tumble dry on a mid to low setting periodically taking it out and spreading it evenly throughout panels.

After washing, the down filling often gathers into clumps inside the lining. This can be caused by the natural wax content being activated during the washing process. To loosen the filling, you can massage the garment by hand or shake it to redistribute the down. Alternatively, the down-filled jacket can be placed in a tumble dryer on the lowest heat setting with some tennis balls or a pair of clean shoes.

The ultimate in cosy winter outerwear is a women’s quilted jacket or gilet. Whether it’s a lightweight layer or a more substantial down filled jacket, it’s as close to stepping out in a duvet that you can stylishly get. With longer length coats, shaped shorter jackets and gilets in a range of colours, wrapping up never felt so good.
