Yes, deck shoes are the same as boat shoes. The name deck shoe is synonymous with boat shoe, that is, non-slip, non-marking leather or canvas shoes with a flat sole in a moccasin or loafer style. Boat shoes are traditionally and usually worn without socks, but they lend themselves just as well to wearing socks, which gives you two separate looks to suit your activities.

Wearing socks will help absorb moisture if you are planning on casual or physical activity in hot weather when you may sweat. If you prefer the no sock look then there are plenty of ‘no show’ socks on the market that will sit below the shoe line.

For a looser fit leave a slighter longer length of lace before the knot.
